4R70W / AODE

IMPORTANT!     

 

PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION ON ALL TRANSMISSIONS!!

 

 

Transmission cooler and cooler lines must be COMPLETELY flushed prior to installation! Failure to do this can damage transmission and VOID warranty!

 

Use *Kooler Kleen* - available at most auto part stores!

 

 

Fluid Instructions:

 

Add � qrt to converter. Before starting vehicle, add 8 quarts of fluid to transmission and let stand for a few minutes allowing fluid to drain into transmission.  Add 3-4 quarts more, than start engine and run through all gears with foot on the brake. Fill to level on stick.

 

**NOTE** Check / research for total amount of fluid your transmission requires to be FULL. Some transmissions drain down slower than others, so be sure your transmission if full before driving vehicle. If it is not full, damage will occur. **Add another quart or two after road test**

AOD/AODE/ 4R70W � LINKAGE

 

The linkage for your shift lever may not be in the exact position you have removed from vehicle. If this is the case it is a relatively easy swap. Simply remove transmission pan. You will see a pin going through linkage shaft. Remove pin with a pair of pliers (needle nose or angled cutting type). Remove large nut from end of shaft and slide out. **Be sure to take note of position of lever and INSTALL in same position that it was in old transmission.

 

This is necessary to swap over sometimes due to the many different levers and position of levers.
