Swapping a modern Ford Modular or Coyote engine into an older Ford but want to keep your heavy-duty C6 or E4OD transmission?

That's exactly what the Performance Adapters PAFO603 is designed to do.

The PAFO603 allows compatible Ford 4.6L Modular, 5.4L Modular and 5.0L Coyote engines to be paired with an older Ford Big Block / 385-Series-pattern C6 or E4OD automatic transmission.

This is an excellent solution for classic Ford trucks, Broncos, restomods and custom builds where a modern Ford engine is replacing an older 351M, 400, 429 or 460, but the builder wants to retain a compatible heavy-duty Ford automatic transmission.

In simple terms, this adapter lets you install a newer Ford Modular/Coyote engine while retaining the appropriate older heavy-duty Ford automatic transmission.

⚠️ BIG BLOCK TRANSMISSION PATTERN REQUIRED

Do not order PAFO603 based only on the C6 or E4OD transmission name.

Ford used different bellhousing patterns depending on the engine family and original application.

PAFO603 is designed to connect the Modular/Coyote engine to the appropriate Big Block Ford / 385-Series-pattern C6 or E4OD transmission configuration.

Performance Adapters specifies Grade 8 or higher hardware throughout the kit.

🔩 1-INCH 6061 BILLET ALUMINUM ADAPTER

The PAFO603 uses a precision-machined 6061 billet aluminum adapter plate approximately 1 inch thick to establish the proper relationship between the Modular/Coyote engine and compatible Big Block-pattern C6 or E4OD transmission.

The system is designed to retain the transmission bellhousing without requiring cutting or grinding for the standard supported installation.

A crankshaft spacer is used to establish the required drivetrain geometry rather than relying on a large, heavy torque-converter spacer.

⚡ HIGH-TORQUE MINI STARTER INCLUDED

The PAFO603 includes the required high-torque mini starter.

The starter is positioned to work through the Big Block Ford transmission starter opening.

Performance Adapters rates the supplied starter for engines with compression ratios up to 14:1.

🔧 FLEXPLATE REQUIREMENT

⚠️ 14.25-INCH FLEXPLATE REQUIRED

This conversion requires the correct 14.25-inch flexplate configuration.

The exact flexplate must be matched to the engine, crankshaft and transmission combination.

Do not assume an existing flexplate will work simply because it fits the engine or transmission independently.

⚠️ TORQUE CONVERTER PILOT / SNOUT IS CRITICAL

The torque converter configuration must also be correct for PAFO603.

The Modular/Coyote crank configuration used with this adapter requires the appropriate 1.375-inch torque converter pilot / snout arrangement.

THE LARGER 1.850-INCH CONVERTER SNOUT CONFIGURATION WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS SETUP.

This is especially important when sourcing a C6 or E4OD torque converter.

Do not select the torque converter by transmission model alone.

If Twisted Torque is supplying the transmission or converter, give us your complete engine and transmission information so we can properly match the combination.
