The Twisted Punisher™ Big Block E4OD is our 650 HP build for modified Ford big-block applications.
This is where we step past the Pro and start replacing the hard parts that become weak points as horsepower and torque go up.
The Punisher gets a Raybestos GPZ clutch package, increased clutch capacity, 6-pinion steel forward planetary, steel overdrive planetary, hardened heavy-duty input shaft, 45-element intermediate sprag, TransGo E4OD-HD2 performance valve-body setup, and a billet single-disc lockup converter.
Rated up to 650 HP.
The Punisher uses Raybestos GPZ performance frictions in the main clutch packs.
GPZ is built for high-stress truck and performance applications where the transmission still needs to handle vehicle weight, heat and load.
Forward clutch is set up for increased capacity and correct clutch clearance.
Direct clutch is set up for increased holding capacity.
Pressure plates are machined or selected where required to fit the increased clutch stack while maintaining proper clearance.
This is where the Punisher makes the jump from the Pro.
The stock-style forward planetary is replaced with a 6-pinion steel planetary assembly.
Steel overdrive planetary installed in the OD section.
The Punisher gets an upgraded hardened input shaft for the increased power and shock load of modified big-block applications.
The intermediate one-way clutch is upgraded to a 45-element sprag.
New overdrive one-way clutch / sprag assembly.
Torrington bearings and thrust washers are inspected and replaced or updated as required.
Updated spiral-lock retaining ring installed in the overdrive section.
The Punisher moves away from the Pro's tow/haul Tugger calibration and uses the TransGo E4OD-HD2 performance setup.
Includes:
✔️ Pressure regulator boost valve
✔️ Line regulator valve
✔️ 1-2 shift valve spring
✔️ 2-3 shift valve
✔️ Shift-firmness calibration plate
✔️ Line-to-lube update
✔️ High-temperature direct clutch seal
✔️ Updated direct clutch outer seal
✔️ Heavy-duty coast-clutch snap ring
✔️ OD housing spiral-lock snap ring
✔️ Converter feed updates
The valve body is completely cleaned, checked and set up for shorter, positive shifts under power while retaining automatic operation in Drive.
On applicable 1989–1995 E4OD applications, first and second gear can be held when manually selected while retaining automatic operation in Drive.
Gear Command is not available on 1996-up applications.
The correct solenoid pack is matched to the transmission year and configuration.
Solenoid operation is checked during the build. Failed or out-of-spec units are replaced.
The center support and case are checked closely during teardown.
We correct these areas before setting up the increased-capacity clutch packs.
The Punisher uses the later-design E4OD pump.
The pump is torn down, checked and set up for the Punisher build before installation.
All remaining reusable hard parts are cleaned and checked before assembly.
We inspect:
✔️ Forward Drum
✔️ Direct Drum
✔️ Coast Clutch Drum
✔️ Center Support
✔️ Intermediate Shaft
✔️ Output Shaft
✔️ Remaining Planetary Parts
✔️ Sun Gear & Shell
✔️ Low / Reverse Section
Anything worn, cracked, damaged or out of specification is replaced.
Every Twisted Punisher™ Big Block E4OD includes a billet single-disc lockup torque converter.
The converter is matched to the actual combination based on:
A factory 460 and a modified 429, stroker 460 or other 385-series performance build do not automatically use the same converter.
For higher torque, boosted combinations, aggressive use or customers wanting additional lockup capacity, a billet triple-disc converter is available as an upgrade.
For a 650 HP big-block E4OD, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND adding our:
✔️ Adds approximately 5–7.5 quarts of fluid capacity
✔️ Finned cast-aluminum construction
✔️ Magnetic drain plug
✔️ Temperature-sender port where applicable
✔️ Additional fluid capacity for better heat control
Exact pan and added capacity vary by application.
The cooler and cooler lines must be flushed and checked for unrestricted flow before installation.
If the previous transmission put metal or clutch material into the cooling system, replace the contaminated cooler.
The optional deep aluminum pan adds fluid capacity, but it does not replace the need for a properly sized external cooler.
The Punisher uses the Ford big-block / 385-series E4OD bellhousing pattern.

For conversion applications, converter, flexplate, engine balance, starter, transmission controller, crossmember, driveshaft, output shaft and vehicle wiring may need to be addressed depending on the combination.
